Axles
An integral part of the chassis, axles are connected to your van’s wheels and are essential for its safe performance on the road. Whilst most RVs have a single axle, larger and heavier ones are likely to have twin or dual axles with two pairs of wheels to better carry the weight. Other than the size of your van, budgetary constraints and your own personal preferences will play a role in your selection.

WHY SHOULD YOU BUY AXLES WITH US?
ADVANTAGES OF SINGLE AXLES
Single RV axles offer a number of advantages. Many travellers find them easier to manoeuvre (read: easier to reverse) and they weigh less, so the overall tow weight for your car will be less. As only two tyres are required (plus a spare), there is less cost involved with replacements.
ADVANTAGES OF DUAL AXLES
Twin or dual caravan or camper axles also offer a number of advantages. You’ll find that you can tow straighter and that the van is more stable when travelling at highway speeds. Less ‘bounce’ is also experienced, which keeps your possessions in place and less pressure is placed on the hitch.
TOUGH FOR OFF-ROAD USE
If you plan to travel off-road, you need to ensure that your caravan axle is up to the task – driving over a pothole or uneven ground has been known to cause poor quality axles to snap. This is the last thing you want to deal with on your travels, as it will render your van useless.
INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION SYSTEMS
It is possible to buy a van that has been fitted with an independent suspension system, which means that it has two shorter RV axles that are not connected (one for each wheel). This allows each wheel to move independently of the others; if one hits a bump, the others are less affected.
